Geronimo Jack

By Elizabeth Bushey

Once, long ago, on a bottle-blue sea
We drifted along, my blue pirate and me.

I, his blue parrot, and Azure, his cat.
Companions to Captain Geronimo Jack.

Dreamy, we floated. We harmed not a soul
Despite all the terrible tales that were told.

Azure and I slept in one cozy curl
And we hadn’t a care in the wide open world.

In the wide open world we were left to be free...

And nobody ever came looking for me.
