Write me a letter

I went to the mailbox and what did I see?
Tell you what I didn't see: a letter for me.
I want to know the latest news, so send it to me.
Doesn't matter if you know your ABCs.

You can color - you can draw.
You can rubber stamp a piece of paper
Fold it real small
Drop it in the mailbox, send it along
Listen to the words of my song
Write me a letter.

Take a crayon from the can, put it in your hand,
Write me a letter.
Pencil or pen, try it again,
Write me a letter.

Any paper that you choose, just please don't refuse --- to write me a letter.

You can color, you can draw. You can send me silly scribblings, send me your thoughts,
Drop it in the mailbox, send it along, Listen to the words of my song --

Then I'll go to the mailbox and what will I see? A big fat pile of letters for me.
I'll read every line and then take the time..

To write each one back. I'll write each one back.

Cause there's nothing better than a thank-you letter.

And you -- wrote me a letter.
