The Sparrow and The Mole

A Sparrow Visiting a Sleeping Mole

Sparrow came to visit his friend Mole in his hole.

“What would you like to do today, Mole?” Sparrow said. “It is a sunny day.”

Mole was grumpy. Mole felt lazy. Mole felt tired.
Mole did not want to get out of his bed.

Get me my sunglasses,” Mole said. “It is too bright. Get me my sunglasses so I can see.”

“I would if I could,” Sparrow said. “I do not know where to look.”

It was very dark in the Mole hole.

Get me my sunglasses,” Mole said. He covered his head with his blanket.

Sparrow smiled. “I will look for them,” Sparrow said.

Sparrow looked. Sparrow looked in the kitchen. The sunglasses were not on the table. The sunglasses were not in the sink.

Sparrow came back to Mole’s bed. “When did you see them last?” Sparrow said.

Mole tried to think. Then Mole frowned. “I do not know,” Mole said.

Sparrow tried to help. “Were you outside?” Sparrow said.

“Yes,” Mole said.

Were you taking one of your regular walks?” Sparrow said.

Yes,” Mole said.

“Well,” Sparrow said, “what do you do when you come home?”

“I put my sunglasses on this desk,” Mole said. “And here they are.”

Sparrow clapped his wings together. Sparrow was happy.

“Now we can go outside and play,” Sparrow said.

“I do not think so,” Mole said. “Now I am too tired from all this looking.”

“Ok,” Sparrow said. “I will go and get Robin to play with me. Have a nice nap, Mole.”

“Thank you,” said Mole. He was snoring happily before Sparrow even closed his door.

THE END.
